SRD Grant Payment Dates and Process

The SRD grant payments for December 2023 are scheduled between 18th and 22nd December. While beneficiaries should anticipate a slight delay due to processing, SASSA assures that funds will typically reflect in their accounts within 2-3 working days post-processing.

SRD Grant Collection Methods

Beneficiaries have two options for receiving their SRD grant payments. They can opt for direct bank transfers or choose the Cashsend payment option. Cashsend allows collection at select retail stores like Pick n Pay, Checkers, Shoprite, and Boxer, providing a convenient solution for those without bank accounts.

SRD Grant Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet specific criteria to qualify for the SRD grant, including South African citizenship, residency, or special permit holder status. Additionally, recipients should not be receiving other government support and must have a bank balance below R624 to be eligible for the R350 grant.

SASSA conducts thorough verification checks in collaboration with the Department of Home Affairs and the Department of Treasury to confirm eligibility.

SRD Grant Extension

Initially introduced as a short-term measure during lockdowns, the SRD grant has been extended until March 2025. Despite its modest amount, President Cyril Ramaphosa acknowledges its vital role in preventing poverty.

Check the SASSA Application Status

Applicants are urged to check the status of their SRD grant applications through the SASSA status check. In case of rejection, an appeal can be submitted to the Independent Tribunal for Social Assistance Appeals (ITSAA).
